This vase reminds me of a determined woman with her hands on her hips. She feels festive with those late zinnias coming out of her head. The turnips in the foreground are there to pull you (yes, you, the viewer) into the picture. This is 12x16, oil on canvas, painted during a break from writing a very academic paper on Howard Hodgkin, one of my favorite painters. Use this link to ebay to bid on Arms Akimbo.
