I have been working inside these old books that I found in the trash for two years now. The books are instructional art books from the 1950s that were published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They have charming lessons for then contemporary art students that use old master paintings for training. This page had something to do with hands. I have probably one hundred of these now. They will be shown as an installation in a show next year in Montgomery. I love the overlap of time that occurs in these pieces. They are about time and place but they also move into very formal concerns that deal with pattern and decoration. Enjoy and have a lovely day. MEK.
