Floral Abstraction

I got some Carmine gesso from Dick Blick today. I was interested to see how this intense red ground would affect my painting so I brushed some on to an 10x8 canvas, and had a go at it. I was working from a shabby bouquet of leftovers and a hydrangea from my yard. It ends up as a very abstract sort of painting, which both surprised and delighted me. I am ok with it. And I love the red ground! It makes me think of Matisse and The Red Studio. Happy day from mek. To bid on Floral Abstraction use this link.
