Oleanders

Well I could not resist working with these oleanders from my yard today. They make me think of a magnificent Van Gogh still life with oleanders that lives in the Met. The oleanders are so lush and so regional. They grow here in Mobile into tall trees. I have also seen them in Rome and in the south of France. My friend Roz told me that they are often seen in Roman paintings but never mentioned. I would never think to paint them if not for Van Gogh.
